Pastels are a must-have in the spring and summer season and we’re giving you the 411 on Periwinkle. This Fox Fam favorite is sure to turn heads no matter how you dye!

Coloring with Periwinkle

Since Periwinkle is considered a pastel it definitely requires TLC! Pastels can typically fade faster so expect for color to start washing out sooner than later. For longevity, try to wash less often. You can always add some Periwinkle to your conditioner for a quick refresh on wash days! A level 9-10 hair base will ALWAYS show up best for pastel shades. If you’re aiming for a true taste of Periwinkle, definitely aim for the lightest base possible.

Level Up: Periwinkle on Different Hair Levels

Your hair's base will determine the final outcome when opting for Periwinkle, making it a crucial factor in achieving your desired look. You have to take this into account when experimenting with this beloved shade! For a true Periwinkle you want to be as light as possible, can’t stress this enough. A level 9-10 base is going to give you that true lavender hue. Periwinkle may also have a slight toning effect on hair that is a little bit darker than this, think around a level 7-8! Beware though, too much of a yellow tone could cause it to pull more greenish! We would recommend ensuring your hair is very light if you’re going to be using Periwinkle straight.  To be completely honest, you will most likely not get any color to show up on a dark base, because pastels in general don’t adhere to dark bases. If you’re looking for a purple hue on dark hair, you'd be best off going with a darker more rich purple, like Purple AF!

Now, ready to mix it up!? You have many possibilities for customizing with Periwinkle.

Want to give it a darker hue? Add in a couple drops of Poseidon or Blue Jean Baby on a platinum base, and you’ll get a beautiful darker, but not too dark, shade of blue. 

Feeling like a more electric vibe? This show stopping combo is sure to turn heads. You’ll need a base of Periwinkle and just a drop of Purple AF. Purple AF is pigmented AF! No pun intended. 😉

 If you’re looking for a true lavender, try mixing Periwinkle with some Girls Night! It’s going to give you a perfect lavender shade. Give it a go with 80% Periwinkle and 20% Girls Night. If it needs to be lighter - add more periwinkle and if it needs to be darker - add more Girls Night!

Nothing makes us happier than knowing we’ve made a difference for animals needing rescue and care all over the world. Every year, we donate 15% of our profits to organizations that help promote animal welfare and prevent animal cruelty, and for the last 5 years, we’ve donated to IFAW to support their worldwide efforts to rescue and rehabilitate animals. IFAW is the International Fund for Animal Welfare and works around the world to rescue and rehabilitate animals, end illegal wildlife trade, and conserve habitats. 

We’ve been supporting IFAW’s work since the devastating Australian bushfires of 2019/2020. As disasters have unfortunately been striking more frequently, and with greater intensity, we are committed to our mission of continuing to support IFAW in their rescue and rehabilitation efforts. Last year, IFAW responded to 98% of disaster requests received from 29 countries directly helping 142,735 individual animals globally. Wow. With 786 animal rescue responders trained across 8 countries, IFAW is even better positioned for next year. We have committed to a two year partnership with IFAW to support their work as they continue to grow and help more and more of our furry friends. 

In April 2022, we donated 50% of our profits that month to aid in IFAW’s relief during the devastating bombings in Ukraine. IFAW provided 24/7 access to pet food, triage veterinary care, and supplies for Ukrainian families feeling with their pets. IFAW committed to providing relief and care to Ukrainian refugees and their pets as long as they were needed. 

In 2021, we made a donation of $50,000 to IFAW and directly impacting their global rescue team! IFAW’s focus remains on rescue, rehabilitation, release, and monitoring wildlife, while also sharing best practices, providing training, and developing response and animal rescue networks. 

In 2022, IFAW continued their work to rehab orphaned elephants and keep them on their journey back to the wild. At their IFAW-supported Zimbabwe Elephant Nursery (ZEN), they rehabilitated two orphaned elephant calves, Moses and Sally. Moses was separated from his herd, while Sally was seriously injured after an attack by hyenas. Both were able to bond with other elephants at the Nursery, received the care they needed, and were able to eventually depart on their own to live as free wild elephants! 

We’re looking forward to elevating our partnership with IFAW over the next two years with an even bigger donation and continued support from the Fox Fam. Level Up: Peach Prosecco on Different Bases

To experience all that Peach Prosecco has to offer, you’ll need to pre lighten your hair to a level 10 base. But this doesn’t necessarily mean that you can’t use this shade on a level or two up from level 10! On platinum bases, this shade will show up as a true rosey peach stunner, but on light blonde bases, this will appear as more of a true rose gold.
