    Color Spotlight: Cosmic Sunshine

    Color Spotlight: Cosmic Sunshine

If you’re looking to be the embodiment of sunshine, Cosmic Sunshine is the one for you! Cosmic Sunshine is a bright yellow vivid that will truly turn heads wherever you go. Yellow hair is a bold choice and dare we say not a common one even among vivid hair enthusiasts. Bright yellow screams sunshine, happiness, spontaneity, and confidence - sounds like the perfect color choice for our Fox Fam! Let’s dive into what makes Cosmic Sunshine THAT color.

    Coloring with Cosmic Sunshine

Cosmic Sunshine is a lighter shade and will turn out best on pre-lightened hair - level 8 or lighter is your best bet for this stunner! If your hair has brassy tones, you can expect a golden glow when you use Cosmic Sunshine.

Cosmic Sunshine won’t take on darker bases due to its light and bright tone. If you’re starting with hair below a level 8, use Bleach, Please to get your hair to the desired level!

Level Up: Cosmic Sunshine on Different Hair Levels

    Let’s break it down!

Platinum Blonde (Level 10): With hair this light, you can expect to see the FULL effect of Cosmic Sunshine. For that true yellow to shine through, make sure your base is toned and even for a smooth application and color payoff.

Light Blonde (Level 9): You’ll see a slightly darker yellow with this base, but the color payoff is definitely bold and yellow at this level!

Medium Blonde (Level 7-8): Cosmic Sunshine will give a golden hue to medium blonde locks which will be sooo pretty when the sun hits!

Light Brown (Level 6): A barely-there golden tint will come through on this base, which might be just the thing if you’re looking to spice up your natural hair just a bit!

Anything below these levels will need some lightening for Cosmic Sunshine to shine! ✨

Get Faded: How Cosmic Sunshine Fades

All of our AF hair dyes are formulated to fade gracefully and Cosmic Sunshine is no exception! While this vibrant yellow will likely keep its brightness for a few months, once it starts to fade you’ll see a lighter version of itself. Keep a 4 oz bottle handy for touch ups in the shower to keep up the vibrancy as long as you’d like! And when you’re ready for a transition, Virgin Pink, Electric Paradise, Ginger Flare, Sunset Orange, and Poison are the perfect options to mix with or cover up our yellow favorite. These colors are great to mix with Cosmic Sunshine as well if you want to go for a sunset inspired look or a rusty pink!

Color Spotlight: Electric Paradise Hair Dye

Color Spotlight: Electric Paradise Hair Dye

Obsessed with bright pink hair? Wanna turn heads wherever you go? Then Electric Paradise is your new BFF. This cult-favorite is our most epic neon pink with a subtle touch of coral, and its got a UV-reactive glow for that extra POP under blacklights.

Electric Paradise is a vivid, versatile neon pink that has been one of the most popular Arctic Fox shades since it first launched in 2017 - if you haven’t given it a try yet, you’ve been missing out! Read on to discover the best ways to use this festival-ready, UV reactive shade!

    Coloring with Electric Paradise

Electric Paradise is a semi-permanent dye, which means it fades out gradually over time. This is perfect for hair color newbies who want to experiment with a bold look without the commitment. Plus, it's made with vegan ingredients and free of harsh chemicals, so you can dye your hair guilt-free.

    Best Base for Electric Paradise

Electric Paradise will shine brightest on pre-lightened hair, more specifically a Level 8 or lighter on the hair color chart. This means if your hair is naturally dark brown or black, you'll probably need to lighten it before you dye it pink. But don't worry, if you're not blonde already, achieving this look is still totally possible! Here are some tips for lightening your hair at home, but be sure to strand test first!

Level Up: Electric Paradise on Different Hair Levels

Here's a breakdown of what you can expect from Electric Paradise on different hair bases:

    • Level 9+ (light blonde): This is the sweet spot for Electric Paradise! You'll get the full-on neon pink with a vibrant UV glow.
    • Level 7-8 (medium blonde): The pink will still be pretty bright, but it might have a slightly softer look. The UV glow might be a little less intense too.
    • Level 6 (light brown): You'll see a softer pink with a hint of coral, but there probably won't be much of a UV glow.
    • Level 5 (medium brown) and below: The dye won't show up very well on dark hair. But hey, if you don't want to lighten your whole head, you could always try a peekaboo highlight with Electric Paradise!

Not sure if your hair is light enough for Electric Paradise?  We always recommend a strand test first so you can see exactly how the color will turn out before applying it all over. But if you’re uncertain, and especially if your hair is unbleached, increasing the pigmentation is your best bet for ensuring a more medium tone like this will turn out visibly and vibrantly. Every AF shade has a swatch chart on the product page to help guide you in your quest for the perfect color, but if you have any questions about Electric Paradise or any other AF shade, feel free to send us an email at support@arcticfoxusa.com and we’d be happy to help!

Get Faded: How Electric Paradise Fades

Electric Paradise typically lasts for 4-6 weeks, depending on how you care for your hair. As it fades, you’ll notice that this color stays true to its undertones until the end, gradually fading into a lighter version of itself. To keep your pink looking fresh, try using color-safe shampoo and conditioner. Generally, washing your hair less often will also help your color last longer. Here are some other tips for making your dye last as long as it can:

    • Avoid heat styling tools as much as possible. If you do use them, use a heat protectant spray first.
    • Protect your hair from the sun. UV rays can cause hair color to fade. Wear a hat or spray in our UV protectant when you're going to be outside for extended periods of time.
    • Avoid swimming in chlorine or saltwater. Chlorine and saltwater can strip hair color. If you do go swimming, rinse your hair with clean water afterwards.

    Electric Paradise Mixology

Electric Paradise is stunning on its own, but it also plays well with others! Here are a few ideas for mixing Electric Paradise with other Arctic Fox colors:

    • For a pastel pink: Mix Electric Paradise with Frosé on a level 9+ base.
    • For a vibrant purple: Mix Electric Paradise with a dash of Purple AF on a level 7+ base.
    • For a fiery orange: Mix Electric Paradise with Cosmic Sunshine on a level 8+ base.

Not your vibe? Here are a few of some of our favorite mixes:

The deets: 60% Electric Paradise and 40% Sterling

The deets: 90% Electric Paradise and 10% Ginger Flare

    Color Spotlight: Sunset Orange

    Color Spotlight: Sunset Orange

Hey Fox! Are you ready for this color spotlight? US TOO! 😉 Let’s go!

Our current color spotlight is none other than Sunset Orange! This versatile color can be used for tons of different looks year-round. Which makes sense as to why this shade is a consistent best seller! 🏆 Today, we’re going to cover all things Sunset Orange, so let’s get to know her a bit.

    Who is Sunset Orange?

Sunset Orange is a vibrant red-orange that is one of the more highly pigmented shades in the AF lineup! Since it’s primarily red-based, the red undertones of Sunset Orange may come through more strongly on hair that is more of a light blonde but we’ll be getting into that more later! 🤌

    Coloring With Sunset Orange 🎨🧡

Let’s go over some best practices when using Sunset Orange because if there’s one thing we’re gonna do for you bestie, it’s set you up for success! As a general rule of thumb, the darker your base, the deeper the shade! With that being said, you can do a lot with this shade on a plethora of bases and even fun mixes!

Let me ask you this… What is your goal? Is it to achieve a color without bleaching your hair? Maybe you simply want to create a custom mix? Or are you planning on covering a shade using Sunset Orange right over the top? The possibilities seem endless with this shade and for good reason. She is the gift that just keeps on giving. 🎁

This fiery, deep red-orange turns out STUNNINGLY vibrant on a prelightened base (around a level 9 or lighter)However, this shade is notoriously known for going over brunette hair no problem! Curious if it’ll appear over your natural dark base? We recommend a strand test before coloring to be sure!

As mentioned earlier, Sunset Orange is a surprisingly versatile shade and can be used in lots of different mixes for custom colors! However, while it’s highly pigmented and can cover up a lot of other colors pretty well, there are some instances in which using Sunset Orange may not be your best option.

A faded warm tone like a red, pink, or most purples would be easily covered by a similar warm tone like Sunset Orange. But cooler shades like blues and greens may cause Sunset Orange to appear more muddy or dark if it’s applied on top 🤢 So for example, if you’re wanting to cover a blue or green shade, transitioning to a purple that can cover cooler tones more easily first, then moving more toward a red or orange, will give you a more accurate result in the long run!! I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again; The color wheel MATTERS! Want to learn how to understand the color wheel and become a color theory pro? Check out our other post on The Hair Color Wheel Explained

Level Up: Sunset Orange on Different Hair Levels

Since this shade is so pigmented, this means it will take well to a wide variety of base hair colors. Showing most vividly on a lightened base and giving more of a dark, subtle tint to darker base colors. Let’s break it down, shall we? 💃

If you’re applying Sunset Orange over a platinum base (level 9-10),  you may notice it leaning more red than orange, especially when it’s fresh! Due to the red undertones, this is where you’ll be able to achieve a bold blood orange shade!

On Medium and light blonde hair (level 7-8), you’ll notice the shade deepening up.

On light/dark brown bases (level 4-6), Sunset Orange will turn out more of a deep orange! 🍊 The tint of color you can get using Sunset Orange over a darker base will blow you away!

     I mean… C’MON! 😍

Get Faded: How Sunset Orange Fades

Now that we understand how the Sunset Orange hair color will show up on different base levels, let’s get into how she fades! This too, is determined by your base and will go hand in hand with your undertone! The best way to explain this is by showing you ⬇️

On a pre-lightened base, you’ll find that the fade out goes from orange, to light orange, to muted orange. This is the best case scenario for fading your color, as it just becomes the lighter version of itself over time and with each wash.

Check out those peachy hues 🍑

Achieve the faded version of Sunset Orange without the wait, by using a mix of Sunset Orange and Arctic Mist Diluter on pre-lightened platinum - medium blonde hair! Below you’ll see Sunset Orange and Arctic Mist in different ratios:

Starting with Sunset Orange all on her own, you’ll notice that the more Arctic Mist Diluter you add, the lighter and more magical the shade 🪄

    Color Spotlight: Ritual Hair Dye

    Color Spotlight: Ritual Hair Dye

Ritual hair dye has been your go-to deep red for almost as long as we can remember! This jewel-toned burgundy turns out most vividly on hair levels 7 and up, which is why she has remained one of our best sellers. She is great for darker hair, and requires no bleach. Ritual fades beautifully into a pretty magenta-pink! What’s not to love!?  Ritual isn’t just a hair color; it’s a whole vibe, a mood, an energy! 🎨💖

    @jessicamaiapinto in Ritual

The Holy Grail: A Forever Fave

Uh, hello? Have you seen Ritual? She’s always a trend setter, and with Cherry Cola taking over all our FYPs, Ritual is the secret ingredient to covering your locks in that gorgeous color. Curious if she suits your season? Ritual looks great on people with both warm and cool undertones! She appears a little more violet on naturally cooler toned hair, making her perfect for a summer or winter, and a little redder on warmer toned hair, which works beautifully on a spring or autumn. She is one of our most versatile colors, that can really work on any skin tone. Ritual is the perfect color for babes who are curious about vivids, but don’t know what color to choose.

Time to Dye: How to Rock Ritual

So, you’re ready to level up your hair game with Ritual? Before you dive in, let’s get the tea on how to make it pop. While Ritual shines brightest on levels 7-10 hair, she’s also a total slay even if you’re on the darker side. If you’re starting at level 5, Ritual will still bless your locks with that magical tint. Ritual has been a forever fan favorite for darker locks. No need to bleach with this deeply pigmented hue✨💇‍♂️ If you want the pigment to really stick, wash with a clarifying shampoo to open up your hair’s cuticles - don’t condition. Instead, dry your hair, apply Ritual, and leave on at least 45 minutes - but it’s safe to leave on for longer! Some of our Foxes leave it on for hours. Check those emails, catch up on your favorite show, and let Ritual do her magic! Rinse in water as cold as you can stand until the water runs clear. Cold water helps seal your cuticles shut, keeping your color locked in. Remember, Arctic Fox’s Semi-permanent hair dye is deeply hydrating, so your hair will be conditioned as it soaks up all of that pigment!

Cracking the Code: Ritual on Different Bases

Okay, so let’s break it down. On a light base, Ritual serves looks for days—think rich, velvety burgundy that’s just chef’s kiss. But as the base gets darker, the burgundy color tints come out to play, adding that extra oomph to your mane. For our darker haired Fox Fam, she leaves behind a hint of deep burgundy that’s perfect for easing your way into vivids or giving your natural hair just a little edge that pops in the sunshine. It’s subtle yet fierce, like your hair’s own little secret. 🔥🙌

But wait, the journey with Ritual doesn’t end once the color’s set. With every wash, Ritual evolves into a dreamy magenta- pink with smoky undertones. It’s like watching your hair glow-up in real-time! 🌹✨Feel free to grab a 4 oz of Ritual and add a few drops in with your conditioner from time to time for easy upkeep and maintenance!

Ritual Mixology - Our Favorite Ritual Mixes

    Dusty Rose

Since Ritual has a smoky undertone for that deep muted burgundy color, it dilutes down perfectly to a soft dusty rose on platinum hair! Try just a few drops of Ritual added to a base of Arctic Mist diluter to get this delicate floral shade.

    Pumpkin Spice

Natural redhead tones are in! To kick this lively color up a few notches, use a base of Porange with a dollop of Ritual mixed in. This gives you a vibrant pumpkin spice tone, perfect for that almost-natural gingery hue!

    Dark Berry

Berry tones are always a fresh pick, and this deep sultry shade is perfect for a refined, elegant look. Use equal parts Ritual and Blue Jean Baby for a dark and jammy blackberry color!

    Smoky Mauve

Sterling is one of our most versatile mixer shades, giving a steely tint to any color that’s added to it. Try mixing a dollop of Ritual to a base of Sterling for a smoky light mauve; Sterling is blue-based, it will help bring the color to more of a purple mauve tone. Or, since Ritual can fade more silvery or gray on hair with a strong yellow-blonde tone, you can just use straight Ritual and enjoy the fade!

    Color Spotlight: Periwinkle Hair Dye

    Color Spotlight: Periwinkle Hair Dye

Watch the clouds go by with hair that rivals the prettiest summer evening. Periwinkle is a dreamy pastel blue with lavender undertones that turns out best on platinum hair! Pastels are a must-have in the spring and summer season and we’re giving you the 411 on Periwinkle. This Fox Fam favorite is sure to turn heads no matter how you dye!

    Coloring with Periwinkle

Since Periwinkle is considered a pastel it definitely requires TLC! Pastels can typically fade faster so expect for color to start washing out sooner than later. For longevity, try to wash less often. You can always add some Periwinkle to your conditioner for a quick refresh on wash days! A level 9-10 hair base will ALWAYS show up best for pastel shades. If you’re aiming for a true taste of Periwinkle, definitely aim for the lightest base possible.

@pasteljacqueline in Periwinkle and Girls Night

Level Up: Periwinkle on Different Hair Levels

Your hair's base will determine the final outcome when opting for Periwinkle, making it a crucial factor in achieving your desired look. You have to take this into account when experimenting with this beloved shade! For a true Periwinkle you want to be as light as possible, can’t stress this enough. A level 9-10 base is going to give you that true lavender hue. Periwinkle may also have a slight toning effect on hair that is a little bit darker than this, think around a level 7-8! Beware though, too much of a yellow tone could cause it to pull more greenish! We would recommend ensuring your hair is very light if you’re going to be using Periwinkle straight.  To be completely honest, you will most likely not get any color to show up on a dark base, because pastels in general don’t adhere to dark bases. If you’re looking for a purple hue on dark hair, you'd be best off going with a darker more rich purple, like Purple AF

    Periwinkle Mixology

Now, ready to mix it up!? You have many possibilities for customizing with Periwinkle.

Want to give it a darker hue? Add in a couple drops of Poseidon or Blue Jean Baby on a platinum base, and you’ll get a beautiful darker, but not too dark, shade of blue.

Feeling like a more electric vibe? This show stopping combo is sure to turn heads. You’ll need a base of Periwinkle and just a drop of Purple AF. Purple AF is pigmented AF! No pun intended. 😉

@143joannagc in Periwinkle and Girls Night

If you’re looking for a true lavender, try mixing Periwinkle with some Girls Night! It’s going to give you a perfect lavender shade. Give it a go with 80% Periwinkle and 20% Girls Night. If it needs to be lighter - add more periwinkle and if it needs to be darker - add more Girls Night!
